Ouse a lucky man then?

FORMER Daily Express Editorial Secretary Esther Harrod tied the knot with her long-standing partner Steve Herring on June 20. They married at their local riverside church on the banks of the Great Ouse in Cambridgeshire.

They had hoped that the bride would arrive on the couple’s boat Jasmine B but her grand entrance was prevented by bad weather.

Esther, 63, told the Drone: “We had a really special day. Friends in the  village put together a choir for us and some of their children did a great song and dance routine to “I’d Do Anything” from Oliver, which blew everyone away, including the vicar!  We had 63 for a sit-down lunch, then a hog roast in the evening for 110. The highlight of the evening was a fabulous Latin band I had booked from London followed by a disco.  In true Fleet Street fashion it was free drinks all the way!”

The happy couple spent their honeymoon in the South of France. Esther said she looks forward to seeing old colleagues at the September First Tuesday lunch.
